Jompy as seen by locals in Bangalore
We are a UK company based in Scotland who work in areas of Africa to provide simple sustainable water boilers to people in rural areas or anywhere where people use a fire to cook. The video shows a simple method to improve water and sanitation and also improving standard of living.
Below is a brief description of the water boiler known as a Jompy.
The Jompy a water boiler which allows you to carry out two tasks at the same time over any fire whether a typical three stone fire, a jiko or a gas stove. This allows you to boil water at the same time as cooking drastically reducing fuel use by up to 60 % and also reduces time spent over a fire. Rapid heating is achieved with the Jompy taking only 10 seconds for the Jompy to reach temperatures of over 60 degrees.
Every year over 1.5million children die due to diarrhoeal diseases which can be prevented by improved sanitation methods like boiling water and using soap for cleaning. Using the Jompy provides a simple method to heat water for improved cleanliness and prevents many water bourne diseases.
