Water Heater Leaking. Does It Need to be Replaced?
I work on water heaters almost on a daily basis and thought I would briefly explain how to tell if your water heater leak is terminal or if its repairable. The common leak spots that are not terminal are: the drain valve, pressure relieve valve (PRV), and pipe joints or fittings. If it's not leaking at one of those spots, then your inner tank is the one leaking. A leaking inner tank is not repairable and at this point you would need a new water heater.
