Okay. So having been without any heating or hot water for 7 days, I revisited the boiler myself and copied something the 'engineer' did when he first arrived. Listen to the timeline of events and guess what, I now have a working boiler. Quoted cost of repair £920, quoted cost of a new fitted boiler £2499. Payment shield would not pay for any repairs (even though I have emergency cover) as the boiler was classed as 'Beyond economical repair' by the engineer. The only option left then, was for us to fund this engineer ourselves at a cost of £920 to repair, OR take up the new boiler to which payment shield would make a £500 contribution towards, leaving us to find another £1999. Well, watch the video, what do you think?
