For reliable operation your boiler should be serviced each year. This will result in not only reducing the chances of it breaking down, but also increase the efficiency of the device, let alone extend it's lifespan.
In this video PGS Technical Director/Gas Installer Richard Wallace carries out a service on a Potterton Performa 28 combination boiler.
For this particular service Richard fully stripped down and cleaned the boiler entirely.
Ahead of doing the work, Richard was informed that this boiler was turning on the radiators when the hot water was being run, and also that the system pressure was having to be topped up about once a month. This information is very useful to the engineer as it would help in diagnosis whilst servicing the boiler.[3.45] See Richard thoroughly clean the injectors of the boiler with brushes and a hoover. [5.30] Richard diagnoses that the diverter valve is faulty and will need to be replaced. [5.40] Richard diagnoses another problem with the boiler, this time, that the PRV is leaking.
The film finishes with Richard happy that the service is complete and that the faulty parts will be replaced the following day, once the appropriate parts had been ordered.
If you need a service for your boiler, whatever the make/model, call PGS today.
