Hot water boiler losing pressure? A common problem, especially on a 51-year-old heating system with multiple issues. I got the call on a Sunday and followed up an hour later. I made the appointment the following morning and found both the dual feed valve and boiler relief valve leaking excessively.
The question became, do I make the needed repairs on a 51-year boiler or would it be a more cost-effective move to replace the entire system. After consulting with my customer, she decided to make the needed repairs so I proceeded to perform what I like to call my "triple play" replacement when I find a hot water boiler relief valve leaking.
Whenever I find a hot water boiler losing pressure from the relief valve, I generally will replace the fill valve, relief valve, and expansion tank (triple play). This will avoid necessary callbacks in the future and assure the customer of trouble-free operation. One more thing to mention, I was informed that my customer was just released from the hospital after suffering from the COVID-19 virus. Talk about pressure!
